Ursprung: Quetzal Artisan

Quetzal Artisan ist eine Marke, die handgefertigte und handgewebte Produkte aus Nord-, Mittel- und Südamerika in die Niederlande und auch nach ganz Europa bringt. Das Ziel von Quetal Artisan ist es, den fairen Handel anzuregen und der Handwerkskunst eine echte Plattform zu geben. Quetzal Artisan verfügt über mehrere Kollektionen, die die Welt auf ihre Weise ein wenig verbessern.

Die Wollkollektion wird von Frauen in Kanada entworfen und gewebt. Die verwendeten Materialien sind Bambusalpaka und Bio-Baumwolle, die in den Anden in Südamerika versponnen werden.

Die guatemaltekische Textilsammlung wird von erfahrenen Frauen aus Guatamala hergestellt. Die Frauen benutzen einen speziellen Webstuhl aus der alten Maya-Tradition. Die Arbeit mit diesem Webstuhl ist eine besondere Fähigkeit, die in der Maya-Kultur von Mutter zu Tochter weitergegeben wird. Die Frauen werden für die geleistete Arbeit angemessen bezahlt, wodurch sichergestellt wird, dass sie ihre Kinder unterhalten können.

Die Fair Trade-Sandalenkollektion aus Guatemala wurde von Frauen entworfen und von Maya-Webern in Guatemala zusammengestellt. Die Weber und die Designer erhielten einen angemessenen Lohn.

Die Hiawatha-Stiefel werden von den ursprünglichen Huron-Wendat-Indianern von Wendake in Kanada handgefertigt. Die Schuhe werden mit Respekt für die Umwelt hergestellt und die Hersteller werden fair bezahlt.
